FAQ

Is there a seasonal flat rate for boat slips?

Short answer, no. Long answer; we have switched to length of stay discounts. Here is the pricing breakdown for the boat slips:

21’ Slips

1-13 nights: $15/night

14-29 nights: $13.50/night

30-89 nights: $10/night

90+ nights: $7.50/night

24’ & 27’ Slips

1-13 nights: $20/night

14-29 nights: $18/night

30-89 nights: $14/night

90-119 nights: $10/night

120+ nights: $8/night

Why did the pricing go up for the boat slips?

Many are objecting to the rather steep price increase on the boat slips. Right now, the Silos boat slip prices are a median price for slips around Canyon Ferry Reservoir. However, you will also find, the past, very low pricing did not allow for much maintenance to be accomplished on the slips and they are in serious need of maintenance to be brought up to even minimal safety codes and usability. Here is what we are currently working on:

  • We have contracted with an electrician to service the electrical on the slips; that work started 23 April.
  • We have had an engineering consultant visit the facility to plan and estimate costs for a more permanent fix on the dock supports; this will be a project that requires multiple permits from multiple agencies and will take some time to complete.
  • We have hired a dock installer to come look at the slips for immediate repairs to replace the broken spud (the pole that the docks rise up and down on), framing, and fingers to make the center section of the dock safer and actually usable.
  • Our dock installer will move the whole dock system toward the lake about 4’ to re-align the gangway on the docks.
  • We have hired a welder to finish adding the handrail on the gangway and to upgrade the access gate with a new locking mechanism that will allow for emergency egress off the docks without a need for a key. To access the docks, however, you will need a ‘key’ on your smartphone. We will post how to do this shortly before we launch the system.

Why are some slips more expensive?

The longer slips cost more because they are generally in better water and cost more to maintain. The price break between the slip sizes encourages people who have boats that can use the smaller slips to take those instead of all people wanting the same longer slips.

The pricing we have settled upon is in compliance with our contract with the Broadwater County Commissioners.

Are the campsite prices going up?

The single sites are $12/night and the double sites are $24/night. However, this year we must charge the Montana State Bed Tax. So the full charge for a single site is $12.96/night and the double sites are $25.92/night.

Why the Bed Tax this year? Since we are a private company (and not the government) we are required to collect this tax.

Has anything changed with the Pavilions?

Yes, a few things have changed this year.

Max # of People: 50

Max # of Camping Units:

Pavilions 1 & 2: 4 Camping Units

Pavilions 3 & 4: 3 Camping Units

Pricing

1-30 People: $25/night

31-50 People: $50/night

+ $10/night/Camping Unit

If a Camping Unit stays connected to either water or electricity, there will be amenity fees charged at the campground. Filling up a Camping Unit's tank with water and then disconnecting will not incur the amenities fee.

$5/night Electrical Fee

$5/night Water Fee

What does my boat slip reservation include?

The boat slip and trailer parking in designated locations.

Where can I park my boat trailer?

We are working with the Broadwater County Commissioners and the Bureau of Reclamation to develop sites for long-term parking of trailers and boats.

Do I have to pay the daily launch fee? And who do I pay the launch fee to?

Everyone must either purchase a daily boat launch ticket or a seasonal pass. Both may be purchased from the kiosk in the parking lot. Daily passes are printed at the kiosk and should be put in the dash of the vehicle pulling the boat trailer; seasonal hangtags must be obtained from the host by presenting the receipt from the kiosk. The hangtag needs to be hung in the vehicle pulling the boat trailer.

Daily Pass: $5

Seasonal Pass: $50

What if I take my boat in and out of the water multiple times a season?

The seasonal pass covers all ingress and egress from the water at any of the ramps in The Silos Marina & Campground. The day pass covers multiple ingress and egress into the water for the day purchased.

Will there be any first-come, first-serve boat slips.

Whatever is not reserved for the date you are seeking a slip, can be rented it out for that date.

Will there be any first-come, first-serve campsites?

Yes! The Peregrine Loop (5th loop) will be first-come, first-serve. We are also adding sites to this loop this spring.
